Some cool spider pictures:
Sitticus fasciger Jumping Spider

Very first of all, I make an apology for the blown orange hairs, I had to salvage this image from a quite underexposed photo.
Observed this small 1 (~three-4mm) on an exterior window sill. I am not at all traditional with this genus, and at the time of composing this, I don’t know the species or even the gender. A fantastic searching spider, the colorations and patterns of scales are fantastic. The palps have some fascinating hairs as properly.
Taken at ~seven:1 with the 28mm reversed to the bellows at f/five.6.

EDIT (eleven/six/08): I contacted Wayne Maddison about this spider, as I couldn’t find an entry for it on bugguide.net. He identified it as a feminine Sitticus fasciger.
For an fascinating paper on this species, see right here.
Honestly enjoyable stuff, this is a entire new genus for me, and an exciting spider as nicely. Seems as though they very first came to the US in the late 1950′s.
Spider (Neoscona triangula) Macro

A macro photograph of a Spider in my backyard.
Finest viewed Large.
Astri Leroy from the South African Spider Club was sort ample to determine the spider:
"These orb weavers Neoscona triangula in the family tree Araneidae are quite common and widespread but since they are nocturnal are not constantly learned. They are popping up all nearly the spot at this time of 12 months and seem to favour the underside of house eaves, specially in which exterior lights or reflected or diffused lights from windows beguile night flying insects. I am sure you learn that she takes her net down at dawn and only puts it up once more after dark. Males are much skinnier, but not genuinely considerably smaller sized, than the extra stout ladies and once grownup really do not look to make their own webs but lurk on the periphery of female’s webs coming up for a opportunity to court and mate with the female".
