The goliath birdeater is positively undisruptive to humans, as are most species of tarantulas. Like all tarantulas, it has fangs exalted adequate to break the skin of a creature (lone-two.five cm). They do carry venom in their fangs and have been recognizable to bite people when threatened, but the venom is reasonably undisruptive and its effects are comparable to people of a wasp’s sting. Tarantulas usually bite humans only in self-defense, and these bites do not usually outcome in envenomation (known as a "dry bite"). The goliath birdeater has terrible eyesight and frequently relies on vibrations in the ground that they can feeling from their burrows.

On Oct. 18th, 2008 we found a tarantula on the balcony of our apartment.
I called the leasing headquarters to see if this was a ordinary issue and they said it was and to please not ruin it as they help to retain the scorpion and black widow population down.
I wouldn’t have killed it anyway, and it appeared quite timid and non aggressive. I couldn’t leave it on the balcony even though due to the fact I was worried it would be poisoned by the chemical I spray to keep the scorpions away.
I’ve had approximately encounter with tarantulas because I used to appointment a man who stored them as pets so I lived in the exact same apartment with several of them for many years.
I place on approximately gloves and carefully composed it into the glass bowl and roofed it so I could get a number of photos.
I then took it up to the mountain behind the apartment and fit it really emancipated in an area in which there are a excellent many crickets, small lizards, scorpions, ect. I like to feel he had a excellent dinner !
